The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE)
Asia’s oldest stock exchange, founded in 1875 and located on Dalal Street in Mumbai. Originally called the Native Share and Stock Brokers’ Association, it is a major financial hub for trading stocks, bonds, and derivatives, and it also owns the Sensex, India’s benchmark stock market index. The BSE has grown from its origins as an association under a banyan tree to a technology-driven, listed corporate entity that plays a critical role in the Indian capital market.
